Accessing Your Hotmail
There are two ways to access Hotmail. The first is through any computer with an Internet connection and a web browser and the second is through POP3 access.
Accessing Your Hotmail via the Web
You can access your email from any computer in the world if it has Internet access and a web browser. You go to Hotmail.com, log into your email account and choose your Inbox. Then you can click on the email you would like to view and view the email message on your web browser.
You can view attachments, reply, compose a new email, create drafts, etc, from this web based application too.
Accessing your Hotmail via POP3
If you use email applications such as Outlook or Outlook Express, you can synch these applications up with your Hotmail account. Microsoft does not offer this service for free but for a fee of $44.95 per year with extras such as 2 GB of storage space, 20 MB attachments, and no advertising.
Accessing Your Hotmail Account using POP3 for Free
Software programs are available to give you access to your Hotmail email accounts using your POP3 applications. These programs make it easy for you to view all your email from all different sources (including Hotmail) in one easy location. Free programs include freepop.org, getmail.com and mrpostman.sourceforge.net. There are also fee based programs, one of which is called Hot Popper available at boolean.ca/hotpop.
