Trojan Horse Viruses
A Trojan Horse Virus is a common computer threat. It is quite difficult to remove and usually this type of virus tries to make the user think that it is a useful or beneficial application.
It hides within a set of supposedly useful software programs then it will start infecting other files in the computer.
It is called a “Trojan Horse” Virus because of its capability of stealing important information from the user’s computer and then sending this information to certain servers designated by the virus´ developer.
This will give the developer a level of control over the computer. Meanwhile, the rightful owner of the infected computer will notice that it has become very slow or that unexpected windows pop up seemingly out of nowhere. This can all lead to a computer crash.
A Trojan Horse virus can spread in a many of ways. The most common is through email attachments. Virus developers will use spamming techniques to distribute the virus to naive users. When the user opens the attachment, the Trojan Horse Virus immediately infects the system.
Other developers use chat software such as Yahoo Messenger and Skype to spread their virus. The virus may even send copies of itself to the people in the address book of a computer that has already been infected.
The best weapon against a Trojan Horse Virus is to never open email attachments or files sent by unknown people. Also make sure you install and update a good antivirus program on your computer.
