Wmiprvse as Virus
A virus may mask itself as Wmiprvse. If you see in the Task Manager a similar-named file or a file with the same name that is not located in the systems32 folder, it could be a Trojan or spyware. Many hackers use this virus to infiltrate the system.

Have disabled this file on every startup for the past 2 years and have not experienced any problems as a result. To suggest you must leave it on is poppycock. Give me a break guys, this is not a Microsoft website and you can tell the trutch. The only people who might need this on are the IT managers and Techs running mulitple stations. Have also disabled svchost.exe everytime and only leave on 5 of them as opposed to the 9 or 8 that XP wants to run, again poppycock.
